Spooks by Sandra Liatsos
There's a goblin at my window,
A monster by my door.
The pumpkin at my table
Keeps on smiling more and more.
There's a ghost who haunts my bedroom,
A witch whose face is green.
They used to be my family,
Till they dressed for Halloween.
E3…
WD40, 409, E3 have you every wondered how these letters and
numbers came to be? According to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia,
WD-40 stands for Water Displacement - 40th Attempt.
Also according to Wikipedia, urban legend has it that the product 409 is
named for the birthday of the inventor's wife or daughter, or
alternatively after a large, powerful engine found in Chevrolet cars at
the time (as sung by the Beach Boys in their hit song, “409"). However,
the product was actually named 409 because it took the inventors 409
tries to get the formula right.
And as Lee explained, the E3, in E3 JOOI Club, stands for Excellence,
Enthusiasm, and Encouragement.
7. Board Meeting
The Board meeting followed the regular meeting. At this meeting,
several decisions were made:
The budget for this year was approved.
The board voted to give the president $100 for each quarter
conference attended to help pay for expenses.
Registration for the quarter conferences will be paid for all club
members who attend the sessions at the conference.
We will have only 3 Ronald McDonald House events during this
year, skipping the summer event
The club will now pay for dinner for a guest who is attending as a
potential member to the club. This will be allowed for the 1st time the
guest attends the meeting.
We were informed that because we have donated $600 to the OI
Foundation, the club will receive a nicely framed print at the first
quarter conference. There was some discussion as to what to do with
the print but no firm decision was made.
What's your IQ answers:
1. True
2. False – Halloween is the second largest commercial holiday in
America – only Christmas surpasses
3. True
4. False – Because of their seeds, pumpkins actually belong to the fruit
family. They are a type of gourd-the same as squash, cucumbers
and melons.
5. False – Celtic lore holds that the first to successfully bob for an apple
will wed first.
