2. ABOUT
My name is Sam Majors
I started preschool in 1997 in Vallejo, CA. I continued elementary
school in Benicia, CA which was a pretty good experience.
I graduated high school in 2012 from Foothill High School in
Pleasanton, CA
I first came to college here at University of Hawaii in August 2012
When I finish my degree, I hope to have my own special education
classroom in-between the grades of kindergarten to 3rd grade.
3. EDUCATIONAL
TECHNOLOGY
Educational Technology is the use of media and technology in the
classrooms or for homework and assignments. It is the process of
learning through the web as well as programs to enhance creativity
in the classroom. Educational Technology is the new, and alwayschanging improvements that is helping to change the was we learn.

5. KINDERGARTEN
When I was in kindergarten, I remember
more painting easels and whiteboards as well
as a reading center and other hands on
activities.
My teacher was the only one in the classroom
to have a computer, and it was a really big
one from what I remember.
We used to have an overhead projector
though, for practice problems in math and
other subjects.
As well as the big TV on the rolling cart, but
that was only on special occasions that we got
to use one.
6. HIGH SCHOOL
I moved after middle school, to a town that had
much better schools and it was noticeable once
I started high school.
Every classroom at least had a laptop for the
teacher, or they had their own personal laptops,
while the school would supply a classroom
desktop computer.
Our photography classes and digital art classes
all had the nice flat screen mac computers.
While our library had rows of nice PC desktop
computers.
Teachers used online programs such as
TurnItIn.com and Google Docs for online
submissions as well as online group projects.
7. COLLEGE
Here at UH I have been introduced to programs online that
I have never used before. Including use of Google drive
and other services.
Most of my professors use the collaborative learning site for
University of Hawaii called Laulima. Some will use it to
distribute online readings and discussions. But surprisingly
many professors don’t use Laulima to its full capacity!
Other professors use sites like Google Groups and
Voicethread for collaborative learning and discussions.
Projectors are being used more than overheads, but I will
say I had a zoology professor that still likes to write on
transparent sheets and move the little knob to help keep it
focused on the wall.
8. A VIVID TECHNOLOGY
LEARNING EXPERIENCE
You can learn best by using all of the different resources
By combining:
• iMovie
• Garageband
• Microsoft Office
• Prezi
• Cellphones
• Tablets
• & Our Peers and Their Knowledge
We have endless learning abilities!!
9. IN MY CLASSROOM
In my future classroom, I will have technology integrated in many
different ways. I hope to use:
• Laptops
• Tablets/iPads
• Prezis
• KidBiz/IXL websites
• Smartboards
10. MY VISION OF THE
CLASSROOM IN THE FUTURE
Instead of just reading up information and typing it into a PowerPoint, I hope
technology in the classroom will look more like students going out and making
their own video using camcorders, iPhones or tablets and then having to upload
and edit their work. While adding in voice overs or extra pictures and links that
would elaborate more on their idea.
Or…
I could see the use of technology like multi-touch tables which are there to help
peer to peer learning. Keeping the students busy and active even when the
teacher may have other students to focus on, or even to run a lesson with these
tables. I have shared a link for those interested to know more!

The possibilities for the classrooms of the future are endless, as long as we keep
in innovation and fresh ideas coming!
11. A CHALLENGE FOR
TEACHING
• Keeping students focused on their studies and not on games or
other media websites. I feel that keeping their attention focused
on the lesson at hand may be a little difficult and as a teacher I will
have to find ways to ensure there is learning happening.
• Making sure everyone gets the same amount of screen time. I
hope to keep track of the amount of computer/screen time the
students get everyday, but also to make sure that everyone gets the
same amount and that others don’t ‘hog’ the devices.
