This document discusses primary and secondary research methods used to analyze the target audience for R&B music videos. Primary research included questionnaires given to people aged 13-25 about their preferences. Secondary research examined an artist's online popularity through views on YouTube and social media likes. The target audience for R&B videos was found to be young adults aged 13-25 of both genders who connect with the explicit lyrics and themes of love and relationships commonly featured.

Primary research is any form of research which
is obtained personally by the investigator for
example surveys, interviews, observations, etc.
Most times it is used hand in hand with
secondary research.

we will be using music from
even has a Vevo page
dedicated to his music.
Vevo is a video hosting service
and is owned by Universal.
Google, Sony and Abu Dhabi
music. It has been around
since late 2009.
These are screenshots of the views which Miguel has received from different songs
apart from the song of our choice i.e. ‘Adorn’. And it just goes to show that he is well
known and also listened to by all. There will be screenshots of his Facebook page on
the next slide which will also prove that that Miguel is popular and quite mainstream.

7. Questionnaire
We asked different people in the age group of 13-25 years of age the
following questions. I feel that it shaped our overall ideas thoroughly
because it gave us a new view on the type of people who are
interested in our genre of music.

9. Heat
Heat is a British music television channel which
is actually a joint venture between Bauer Media
Group and Channel Four television and has been
around 3rd July 2012, it has featured nearly all
the R&B from Miguel to Chris Brown to
Beyoncé.

This is the process of collecting data which
already exists and has already been produced.
For example looking for information on the
internet, newspapers, reports, etc.
Most times it is used hand in hand with primary
research.
11. The target audience of R&B music videos are
young adults between the age of 13 to 25 of
both genders. And this is du to explicit lyrics and
the content overall. Females are usually targeted
by R&B artists because they stereo typically
write songs about love, being in love and
heartbreak these type of songs will appeal to
teenage girls and young adults as it usually
relates to them. Fast R&B songs usually will
attract to women as they involve fashion and
synergy within the narrative or theme.

13. Conclusion
From the data that has been collected I have
found that there is a very large target audience
that most people are not aware of and who they
would think wouldn’t be that interested in a
R&B music video.
I have also found that from the statistics that
have been collected that there are still more age
group which Miguel could appeal to.
