This document discusses the future of personal learning environments and web 2.0 technologies. It notes that while the future is not evenly distributed, web 2.0 allows users more control over where and how they access information. It examines where we are today in terms of personalization of virtual learning environments and portable access to the Open University. It also suggests ways to take an even stronger lead through tools that feed off paced content delivery and community websites focused on conversation.
