This presentation is an overview of the research work package in the REGIONAL – Comparative Analysis of Regional Policies for Adult Learning GRUNDTVIG-GMP Lifelong Learning project involving six countries 2014-2015. This presentation was delivered to a research workshop at Maynooth University in February 2015

• Major regional disparities in participation to
Adult Learning persist across the EU at
regional level
• in “Mind the Gap: Education Inequality in EU
Regions” 2012, the Commission stresses that
“policy solutions must be tailored rather than
generic”.

• The REGIONAL project carries out a comparative
analysis of Adult Learning policy initiatives in 16
Regions of 6 European countries; the project brings
together 7 partners from 6 Countries (Germany,
Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Serbia and Slovakia).

7. Data AnalysisData Analysis
• Using MaxQda the data was analysed for each
country providing a draft country report which
was then interpreted by the country of origin.
• This process was the responsibility of
Maynooth University.

• The structures for adult learning are presently
going through the most significant change
since the founding of the state
• Arising there are new structures and new
management positions in place in all the
administrative regions in the republic of
Ireland. People are settling in to the new roles
in their respective areas.
