The Kenya Institute of Monitoring and Evaluation Studies is a
Centre for Research, Monitoring and Evaluation studies.

HIGHER DIPLOMA IN PUBLIC/GOVERNMENT AGENCY
MONITORING AND EVALUATION
This is a 16 month part time course designed to produce
competent public service sector monitors and evaluators. The
monitors and evaluators who train in this area specialize in
provision of monitoring and evaluation services to governments
and their agencies. They are trained to work with the
government as employees or as consultants competently.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR HIGHER DIPLOMA
COURSES - C (PLAIN)
Mode of study - Saturday, evening and block classes and dis-
tance learning mode.
Target groups: people working in consultancy firms, civil society,
trusts, government officers, CDF, COBs and/or individuals inter-
ested in working in development issues

CERTIFICATE IN MONITORING AND EVALUATION
This is a four months part time course available to
professionals who use monitoring and evaluation skills in their
day-to-day work and intend to enhance their work. This
course provides a foundation in the area of monitoring and
evaluation preparing the learners for professional courses at
higher levels. It covers various M&E issues in program
planning, implementation and impact to the stakeholders.
Entry Requirements- D+ (Plus)
Targets groups - people working or who intent to work with
NGOs, Donor Agencies, FBOs, civil society, trusts,
government officers, CDF, COBs and/or individuals interested
in working in development issues
DIPLOMA IN MONITORING AND EVALUATION
This is a one-year part time course that is available for people
interested in the field of monitoring and evaluation. It is
tailored to address the unique problems that arise in
development programs.

HIGHER DIPLOMA IN PERFORMANCE MONITORING AND
EVALUATION
The higher diploma in performance monitoring and evaluation is
a 16 month part time course that is designed to produce
competent monitoring and evaluation practitioners. The evaluators
who specialize in it are mainly human resource personnel in
organizations or people interested in assessing performance of
their workforce. They acquire knowledge on how to apply principles
of monitoring and evaluation to working with personnel in varies
situations.
HIGHER DIPLOMA IN GENDER PROGRAMS MONITORING
AND EVALUATION
This is a 16 month part time course designed to produce
competent gender based monitors and evaluators. The
monitors and evaluators who specialize in gender issues are
mainly people interested in helping development programs develop
and use community wide indicators in their practice. Specific
content about gender is covered including; gender and
development issues, gender based indicators and enterprise
management in monitoring and evaluation.
HIGHER DIPLOMA IN HIV/AIDS MONITORING AND EVALUATION
This is a 16 month part time course designed to produce
competent HIV/AIDS monitors and evaluators. The monitors
and evaluators who specialize in HIV/AIDS program monitoring
and evaluation are mainly health workers in hospitals or
community settings like nurses, clinical officers,
psychotherapists, public health officers, doctors, social
workers, and laboratory technicians. They acquire knowledge
on how to apply principles of monitoring and evaluation to
HIV/AIDS programs to assess percolation of interventions,
assess outcomes and impacts accurately. A framework for
evaluating most at risk populations and HIV/AIDS indicators
are covered.
HIGHER DIPLOMA IN PEACE AND SECURITY
MONITORING AND EVALUATION
This is a 16 month part time course designed to produce
competent peace and security monitors and evaluators. The
monitors and evaluators who train in this area specialize in
provision of monitoring and evaluation services to people dis-
placed by war, clashes and violence. This option looks at refu-
gee status, issues regarding humanitarian law, con-
temporary issues for displaced persons to broaden the evalua-
tor's scope of knowledge in the area. They are trained to work
with refugees in camps competently.
HIGHER DIPLOMA IN NONGOVERNMENTAL
ORGANIZATION MONITORING AND EVALUATION
This is a 16 month part time course designed to produce
competent NGOs' monitors and evaluators. This equips the
learner with skills and knowledge in dealing with non
governmental programs covering topics like nongovernmental
organization management, society and humanitarian law and
impact assessment. They are trained to work with the
organizations as employees or as consultants competently.
