2. HOW THEY USE THEIR
ENVIRONMENT:
They use rivers and
waterways to make
dams for water and
electricity. The three
major dams are
Hwanggang Dam,
Imnam Dam, and
Nampho Dam
Republic of Korea lost Rice is the most important
an average of 7,100 crop in South Korea. Rice
hectares of forest per represented about 90

million tons.
3. KOREA’S ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES:
Korea's inhabitants have
cut down most of the
ancient Korean forests. This
has been a major cause of
soil erosion and flooding.
Air pollution is a serious concern,
particularly in major cities, because
more than 80 percent of all South
Koreans live in urban areas. Other issues
include water pollution from sewer
discharge and industrial effluents, acid
rain, drift net fishing, and wasteful
packaging of consumer goods.
