1. 1. TECHNOLOGY IN THE CLASSROOM By Lauren Tyler
 2. 2. Objective

I was doing a lesson about vocabulary and was introducing their vocab words to them

My Lesson fulfilled Standard 6 Objective 1

Words: Crayons, Pictures, Charcoal, and Paintings

 3. 3. Video Clip

To introduce something about crayons, I showed my students a clip about how crayons are made.

This included using a projector and computer to show the students

For an example of a clip that could be shown, go here:

http://science.discovery.com/video/how-its-made.html

 4. 4. Guessing Game

Next, I made a slide show using power point of different pieces of art work that were done in different mediums (crayon, paint, and charcoal)

As I cycled through the pictures the students had to guess what medium was used and state the meaning of each medium.

Ex. “That was done with crayon. Crayons are colored sticks made of wax used for drawing or coloring.”

 8. 8. Principles of Effective Integration

Students are involved in the technology is a shared way – the whole class is watching and participating together

The technology is a motivational factor and adds an effective way to practice the vocab words and accomplish my objective

Students experience is enhanced by the technology because they can see the images in a large view. I could’ve printed the pages off but everyone wouldn’t’ be able to see as well

 9. 9. Reflection

Things to change: Next time I would set up the projector when the kids are at recess or something. I was setting is up at the end of someone else’s lesson and it ended up not working on my PC so we had to transfer my presentation to a MAC

Good things: the students loved the video about crayons and even wrote about it in their letters of thanks to me. I think that any use of video clips can really engage the students.

 10. 10. Technology

Yeah for technology in the classroom!
