Bkaiji Rustom Camahi who designed the flag of
Independent Hindustan was a prominent figure
in the Indian independence movement.
She was the first woman who hoisted India’s
Flag in a foreign country.
8. Begum Hazrat Mahal
• Also known as Begum of Awadh, Begum Hazrat Mahal
was the first wife of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah.
• During the Indian Rebellion of 1857 she rebelled against
the British East India Company. She took charge of the
affairs in the state of Awadh and seized control of
Lucknow after her husband had been exiled to Calcutta..
