    4. 4.  According to Dr. Louis Orr – past President of the AMA – obesity is the greatest danger to the health of the American people (cancer ranked as the most dreaded disease). In fact, as a risk factor, obesity ranks as harmful to life expectancy as smoking! Over 72 million Americans are obese!
    5. 5.  Obesity has now overtaken alcohol as the number one cause of liver disease. By the time symptoms emerge, the damage can be irreversible.
    6. 6.  The average American consumes an astounding 2-3 pounds of sugar each week, which is not surprising considering that highly refined sugars are being processed into so many foods such as bread, breakfast cereal, mayonnaise, peanut butter, ketchup, spaghetti sauce, and a plethora of microwave meals. Prior to the turn of this century (1887- 1890), the average consumption was only 5 lbs. per person per year!
    7. 7. Sugar is just a carbohydrate.What happens when you eat carbohydrates?1. Your body produces insulin.2. Insulin turns the carbohydrates into energy in your muscles. This is GOOD!
    8. 8.  Insulin is also stored in your liver. Only what’s stored in the liver can be used to maintain blood sugar levels for proper brain function. This is good too!
    9. 9.  Buttoo much insulin sends a different message to the body. ―Store fat!‖
    10. 10.  What happens if you eat too many carbs? Here’s the problem: ◦ The liver can store only about sixty to ninety grams. This is equivalent to about ◦ two cups of cooked pasta or ◦ three candy bars or ◦ ONE Coke!1 Coke is 65 grams of sugar and 240 calories
    11. 11.  Want more bad news? ◦ When you eat more carbs than needed, the surge of insulin tells the body not to release any stored fat. This makes it impossible for you to use your own stored body fat for energy. ◦ So the excess carbohydrates in your diet not only make you fat, they make sure you stay fat. ◦ Its a double whammy, and it can be lethal.
    12. 12.  On top of all  This is called insulin resistance and results that, up to half of in: our population is ◦ Fatigue ◦ Brain fogginess unable to ◦ Low blood sugar process ◦ ◦ Intestinal bloating Sleepiness carbohydrates ◦ Increased fat storage and weight efficiently. ◦ Increased blood pressure ◦ Depression
    13. 13.  So the answer is to switch to imitation sugars right? Those pretty pink, yellow and blue packets on every restaurant table.No calories, no sugar…just Aspartame.
    14. 14.  Aspartame is 200 times sweeter than sugar. ◦ When you eat aspartame your body thinks you are getting a mammoth dose of sugar and starts producing huge amounts of insulin.Remember the stuff that gets stored as fat? Your brain doesn’t recognize aspartame as sugar so you just keep producing insulin waiting for that massive dose of sugar. Where does all that insulin go? Belly fat!

    16. 16.  Although this Diet Coke has no calories it is loaded with aspartame. Research shows these imitation sweeteners are the reason Americans, especially kids, are getting fatter.
    17. 17.  How about Vitamin Water? That’s gotta be good right? Water with vitamins we need anyway. Vitaminwater is just uncarbonated soda.
    18. 18.  While the label claims only 13 grams of sugar per serving, one bottle of vitamin water is actually 2.5 servings, meaning that youre chugging down 32 grams of sugar with every bottle.
    19. 19.  We hear all the time how good green tea is for you. So you go get a bottle of Lipton Green Tea. A 20 ounce bottle has 53 grams of sugar. We are almost overloading our liver with just one bottle.
    20. 20.  So if just what we are drinking takes us over the amount of carbs our body can burn then what about our FOOD. We know to stay away from chips and ice cream and cake but even if we try to eat healthy they’re fooling us.
    21. 21.  There is powerful evidence that MSG and other excitotoxic chemical food additives induce extreme obesity that lasts a lifetime. People who are exposed to high levels of MSG as children are at risk as adults for a chronic problem with metabolism, known as metabolic syndrome, which results in obesity that’s very difficult to address with dieting or exercise and often leads to type 2 diabetes.
    22. 22.  We know MSG is bad but it is virtually in EVERYTHING! Manufacturers just hide it under names like: ◦ Caseinate ◦ autolyzed yeast enzymes ◦ hydrolyzed protein ◦ soy isolates ◦ soy protein ◦ beef or chicken broth ◦ natural flavorings. Accent is almost 100% MSG.
    23. 23.  Gluten is mostly found in grains such as barley, rye, and especially wheat products. Celiac disease has the most direct impact on your small intestine, however over time your entire body can be affected. Your immune system has a reaction to the gluten in the small intestine that causes severe damage. This damage keeps your small intestine from absorbing nutrients that your body needs.
    24. 24.  Breads, pastries, cakes, cookies, crackers, doughnuts, pies, pretzels, and all other baked goods. Breakfast cereals, both hot and cold. Pasta Snack foods, especially if seasoned or highly processed. Soups, gravies, and thickened sauces. Breaded meats or vegetables, such as fried chicken or okra. Salad dressings, Worcestershire sauce, and other condiments. BEER And KFC!
    25. 25.  We have been told to switch to Whole Wheat bread. Well, another deception! Some whole wheat breads have more sugar than white bread! 80 calories per slice, 15 grams of carbs ◦ Two sandwiches per day equals 60 grams of carbs JUST FROM THE BREAD!Remember that 60 to 90gram daily limit before weover load our liver?
    26. 26.  We haven’t even talked about Fast Food Restaurants! Chicken nuggets anyone? HOMEWORK! ◦ Go watch the movies  ―Food, Inc.‖  ―Super Size Me‖ We aren’t even gonna go down the snack food aisle! You know better than that.
    27. 27.  Drink water, filtered plain water. Make green tea from an old fashioned tea bag. Use Stevia or Truvia. All natural, no chemicals, no calories.
    28. 28.  Shop the outside of the grocery store. The closer your food is to coming out of the ground the healthier it is for you. Fresh fruits and vegetables, fish and meat from grass fed cows. Nothing in a box, bottle, or can. Eating like this, most people will lose weight and get healthy. Simple right?
    29. 29.  The problem with KNOWING what to do is food is emotional and addicting. We can diet for awhile, but eventually we cave in to temptation and gain back that 10 pounds we worked so hard to lose, PLUS SOME! Normally, when someone loses weight about half of that weight is muscle. BUT when you yo-yo diet and gain the weight back, you ONLY GAIN FAT!
    30. 30.  We met while living in Las Vegas. But our weight started interfering with our social life. We could no longer dance all night without being out of breath. None of our clothes fit and Patty’s family was planning a vacation to Disneyworld. At 300 pounds… We were too fat to ride the roller coasters with our kids. That is when we found the HCG diet. We started our first round in Vegas. Geno lost 30 pounds and Patty lost 35 (he cheated a couple times)! We went on that vacation and rode those coasters with our kids and stood in the middle of Disney World and cried because we actually did it!!!
