ADCP stands for “Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler” An ADCP can measure the magnitude and direction of water currents at different levels ADCP can be deployed from stationary as well as moving platforms ADCPs can be mounted vertically or horizontally

12. ADCP for Sediment load
ADCP data can be used as a surrogate to measure Suspended Sediment Concentrations (SSC)
Suspended sediment discharge can be obtained by multiplying average SSC with water discharge
Software is available that enables the user to quantify sediment concentrations using an ADCP

Proven technology is available to convert the Backscatter data into Sediment concentrations
An empirical relation betn backscatter and sediment concentration allows for the calculation of the SSC values

14. Aquavision ViSea DAS software suite can be used to configure the ADCP and acquire, present and save ADCP and additional sensor data in real time
Allows the user to compute Total sediment flux, 3D tracking of sediment during sediment relocation, Dredge and sediment behavior studies, calculate correlation between ADCP/OBS
