3. Headline/quotes and
interviews
In almost every newspaper article there is a headline. The
headline gives a very brief account of what happened. Quotes are
used when someone has said something in an interview or some
sort of meeting. Interviews are either done by the newspaper
group with the article or another newspaper altogether. They use
this to support the points being made by the journalist. On
broadsheets the journalists/writers normally give the story from
both sides whereas the tabloids give the opinion on one side of
it.
4. Pictures/images
There are many pictures and images in almost every newspaper
article. They use this to make the story sound more exiting or
and more real. This also gives additional information on the
story. Tabloids tend to be less serious so there would be less
writing and more picture on the other hand broadsheets would
have more writing and less pictures or images.
The caption of the photo is so that everyone knows what they are looking at.
5. Newspaper Article/By-lines

In the first paragraph of most articles it sums up the story
very briefly and then it goes in to more detail later in the
article. The information in most First para sums up story.
The newspaper company has a lot of information from
correspondent all around the world.
6. Facts and opinions /Videos

In most newspaper articles there is a mixture of facts of
opinions shred by the writer. Recently all online papers have
now got a social sharing, so you can share what you read on
Facebook, Twitter and Pintrest.
7. Main body- this is where the main features of the stories are
displayed for the audience to read. Usually this would be in
short paragraphs to keep the audiences attention. The most
important information will be at the top and less important
information will be towards the bottom because many people
will just read the first part of the article
8. Slogan displayed

A slogan is a catchphrase for a newspaper. This is something that
can be easily identified with the newspaper. Masthead is the is
usually at the top of the cover head. For example ‘the best local
newspaper’.
9. Lead story and secondary lead
stories
Lead story – this is seen as the most important story in the
newspaper and it will get the most coverage. The story also be
of most interest to the audience.
Secondary lead story – this is also a story which will be of
interest to the target audience however it will not be as
important as the lead story.
10. Display advertisement and
small advertisement
Display advertisement is an advertisement included in a
newspaper with writing about the service or product and along
side will be a photo.
Small advertisement is different from display advertisement
although it includes writing about a service it will not include a
photo, this will result in the audience thinking this is less
important adverisement.
