The CSC is a strategic cornerstone of the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP), approved by the Government in May 2006, as part of its commitment in the National Common Minimum Programme to introduce e-governance on a massive scale. CSC - an important component of the NeGP is a network of service points across the length and  breadth of rural India. CSC aims to provide access to information, backed with relevant infrastructure and end-to-end services that would allow rural population, the opportunities to enhance their  quality of life. Present CSCs - 95710 (as of June 2011) More than 50,000 are registered online on CSC SPV Online Monitoring  250,000 Total Proposed CSCs  ,[object Object],[object Object]
