1. Math tasks based on the cubic structure
The following math tasks are based on the cubic structure the students
made inspired by the cubic structures (which are also functional as floor
lamps) of Nicholas Ladommatos, a contemporary Cypriot artist.
1. Name the shapes on the external surface of the cubic structures that are
regular polygons.
2. Calculate the length of the acmes of the cubic structure. Now calculate the
area of the covered surfaces (faces) of the cubic structure.
3. Identify the angles that are created by the intersected lines in the internal
space of the cubic structure.
4. What fraction of the external surface of the cubic structure is covered?
Give your answer as a fraction.
5. Find pairs of straight lines on the external area of the cubic structure and
identify their relationship (parallel, vertical, intersected etc.). How many
pairs of each type of lines can you trace?
