Travelling to Czestochowa….
Let’s go to Chestochowa…….
Kostas and Eleni are brother and sister. They come from Cyprus. They live in Strovolos and
they are in the 5th grade of Chryseleousa Primary School. They love travelling and they like
playing with the globe. They close their eyes, spin the globe and then they stop it with a
finger by touching it a point on the globe. If that point happens to be Beijing or in some-
where in Madagascar or in Mexico, they look it up on the Internet or in a library and try to
collect information about that place. This time they pointed at Czestochowa, a town in the
south of Poland.
The journey begins... Let’s follow them ....
Eleni,Ithinkthatif we want to go
to Czestochowa, we needtofirst
travel to Warsaw, the capital of
Poland.WizzAirisa good airline choice,
because we canget a directflighttoWar-
saw fromLarnaca airport, the one nearest
to our town.
Very goodidea. We will have to
calculate the total costof travel-
ling. The returnplane ticketto
Warsaw costs128 Euro foreach
personandthe Intercityreturn
trainticketto Czestochowacosts
25 Euro each.
It seemsok.We needtoalsoestimate
the cost of our accommodation.Ibis
Hotel isa good choice.Itcosts 45 Euro
pernightincludingbreakfast.Soitwill
cost us (3Χ45)Χ2= 270 Euro intotal.
Great! That will
give usa chance to
walkaroundthe
beautiful oldtownof Warsaw.ButKostas,
we needtobear inmindthat if we wantto
getto Czestochowawe needtogetthe
trainor the busfromWarsaw. I thinkthe
trainis a betteridea. We canget toour
destinationin3hours. What doyou think?
So, two return ticketsby128 Euro
equals:
2Χ 128 = 256 Euro
And2 trainticketsto Czestochowa
2X 25 = 50
50 X 2 = 100
Total cost356 Euro. Itseemslike a
veryreasonable price. Whatdo
youthinkKosta?
Good! We alsoneedtocalcu-
late our meal expenses. We
will staythere for3 days and
we needtopay for2 more
mealsa dayeach. If eachmeal
costs approximately20Euro
thenwe will pay:
3 Χ (2 Χ 20) Χ 2 = 240 Eurofor
the 3 days of our stay
This means that our trip
will cost us approximate-
ly 866 Euro in total. Let’s
go!!!
Using the local cur-
rency, out trip will
cost us 3464 Zloty.
