    One thought ...

Sometimes those attempting to create change convey a message - deliberately or not - that whatever people are doing now is wrong, so they need to change.

This approach creates resistance and can make change much harder.

In fact I believe that much of the backlash against change isn't due to the change, but is due to the change agent's approach.

The best change agents acknowledge the good in what people are doing and portray change as a way to continue to improve and develop.

When I talk about change with people, I make it clear that they are NOT wrong.

The external environment has changed, customer perceptions have changed, technology has changed - everything they've done to-date remains right, appropriate and fantastic.

We can choose to keep doing what we are doing - and will continue to be successful, but if we embrace change we can even better address customer needs.
