2. What is an Excursion?
 An excursion is a short trip by a group of people focused on a
given topic (scientific, cultural, etc.) attractive to them, usually
made for leisure, education or physical purposes
 Active and participatory
 Some features:
 Must be prepared in advance
 by teacher or tutor
 participants shall acquire related knowledge in advance
 to maximize benefit.
 Parents/tutor consent mandatory
 Excursions should be instructive and pedagogic
 Excursions should enable further related activities

3. What is a Virtual Excursion?
 A virtual excursion is a tour through a digital world by a group of
people focused on a given topic (scientific, cultural, etc.) attractive to
them, made for leisure and education purposes.
 Active and participatory : social and collaborative technologies.
 Some features
 Must be prepared in advance
 by teacher or tutor
 participants shall acquire related knowledge in advance
 to maximize benefit.
 Personalization possible
 Digital access to e-infrastructures must exist
 Proper security and privacy must be ensured
 Excursions should be instructive and pedagogic
 Excursions should enable further related activities

 Collaborate in scientific learning resource creation
 Collaborative multimedia resource creation

6. ViSH: Social Network
 ViSH integrates teachers and scientists in a social network
 To receive recommendations of most successful resources
 To follow activities performed by others (Twitter like)
 Activities: excursions and resources created or run,
 To see who others follow and who follows them
 To send messages to other ViSH members
 Students do not need to register in the ViSH
 They can only answer questionnaires passed by teachers
