Career Counseling Assessment
Caroline 17 year old white female High school senior Requests help with the career planning process Plans to attend a small, faith based college and has begun enrollment process
Myers-Briggs Help student to become knowledgeable about her personality type Make connections between occupational considerations and personality type Self Directed Search Identify interest patterns based on Holland’s typology Correlate interests, competencies, and abilities to an occupation Career Style Interview Use the student’s personal stories to construct a career success plan Identify themes and tension in the stories to enable the student to learn how to adapt in the work world.

MBTI – ENFJ: Extrovert,Intuitive,Feeling,&Judging All types are valuable Split-half reliability and internal consistency are high (.90/some .80). Some debate concerning internal consistency. SDS – Summary Code - SEA Social (42) Enterprising (39) Artistic (33) Substantial test-retest reliability (.76 to .89) and validity is at the high range for interest inventories.
CSI – Themes – Social, Artistic, Poised She feels pressure to live up to her mother’s/brother’s example, but is more comfortable being a part of the team. Pain – She feels like she has to live up to the expectation of leadership exhibited by her mother and brother and fears she will fail. Research is presently be conducted to establish reliability and validity for this qualitative form of assessment.

After consulting and receiving feedback from the student concerning the results of all assessments, the counselor will: Provide and discuss information concerning occupations suggested by all assessments. Discuss further career plan objectives Follow-up to determine progress toward career planning goals. Also counsel the student concerning other potential counseling needs.
