Editor's Notes
Welcome to this presentation. Let me start off by telling you a little about myself and how this presentation came about. I have been teaching for four years in the Creighton School District in Phoenix at Excelencia School. As I was growing up I learned about technology in two different settings. I learned about it at school with apple computers and then Macintosh computers. At home I was learning how to work on what was then IBM compatible and now are called PC’s. While in school I continued learning more and more then once I became a teacher I sought to integrate my teaching with technology. I taught fifth grade for three years and now I teach in our school’s technology lab first through eighth grade students. One area I kept hearing from our teachers and staff was there is a need to put pictures with the instructions or with other words to help our students learn better. Most of our students are second language learners so this really helps them, plus it also hits on the visual intelligence described by Howard Gardner. The teachers and staff were drawing pictures by hand or going out to the stores and buying clipart cd’s so they would have the pictures to help with their instruction. This can be very expensive, so I told the staff there is an easier way to find clipart without going broke. It is called using the internet and knowing where to find free pictures, graphics and clipart. This is how I came to do this presentation.
