We have both used very
                                               similar styles Mastheads,
                                               however the ‘VIBE’ magazines
is bigger, I personal think the
                                               masthead is a weakness on
my magazine as it is too small.
And the back drop shadow is
                                               too much.

                                               In both magazines, bright,
                                               bold colours have been
                                               used to attract the
                                               audience – both genders

We both have lots of cover
                                               lines to sell the magazine
and to also fill the blank
space. I think one of my
                                               strengths is that I used
                                               different effects e.g stroke or
                                               drop shadow however I think
                                               I could have limited my
                                               colours like the ‘vibe’
                                               magazine as mine looks to
‘busy’. Audience feedback: Attractive, lots of
One thing I would change about my
                                                                                 information however the Masthead
magazine cover is the position of the bar looks 3D, and does not fit with the
code, as it looks squashed in with the text. magazine.

On my Contents page, I have
more subheadings, I think this is a
strength of my magazine please it
                                              has lots to offer.

I have a very similar layout to the
sports magazine, I put the writing
on the left hand side to observe
the rule of thirds in columns.
However I could have made the
columns thinner to look more like
                                               a magazine

                                                Colours: On the sports magazine
the colours are limited to black,
white and blue – as they are sporty
                                                colours and connect with the
                                                photographs. On the other side,
mine are more bright and colourful
                                                to convey college colours thus
   :
Text I have used the same font for all my stationary colours were used. I think
information however used the bold effect, a weakness of my contents page is
stroke and background shadow, I struggled that I used to many effects, instead
getting the subheadings all the same size of keeping the information simple.
therefore this is a weakness of my contents
page.
Learning the
features
of InDesign to
create my
contents.
We used digital cameras to take our median close up
shot for my magazine, front cover. When taking the
photograph I insured that the model was central, there
was room for the masthead, cover lines and selling
lines. I also observed the rule of thirds, however I should
have moved the image slightly to the left to maintain
the rule. I attempted to shoot the photo 3 times to see
which fit best with the rule of thirds. And also asked the
model to give different facial expression to connect
with the reader.
I used Adobe Photoshop to design my front cover
for my college magazine on the left. I mainly used
Photoshop to manipulate images, used different
effects on text e.g. Masthead.

I also added font with drop shadow and effects
to make the magazine more eye catching, as
well as using a stroke effect as well to make the
writing look bold – the main reason I had to use
these effects was because you could not see the
writing against the models clothing.

I used different colours and edited the shades to
make sure they weren’t to bright as I was trying to
portray college colours.
I used In design to design and create my contents page
for my student magazine. We pretend to used in design for
contents page rather than Photoshop as In design is a
programme designed to manipulate text instead of
images.
I really enjoyed making m y contents page, firstly I decided
where to place my images on the left hand side to follow
the rule of thirds, however I could have placed an image
on the right maybe as the reader would see it first. Also I
could have used different shapes on the page as
everything is rectangle, which is not eye catching – looks
formal which is generally not the idea of a college
magazine. College magazines are supposed to be ‘fun’
and a easy read.
I have used columns to make sure it was neat and also to
look like a magazine, which I think works really well accept
the sub heading size. I liked using in design however found
it harder to use rather than Photoshop.
