I conducted a questionnaire on survey monkey to give to
my target audience and get them to answer it. My aim of
this questionnaire was to see which out of my ideas my
audience would more enjoy when watching a music video. I
also wanted to see if some of my ideas were appealing to
them or not. This questionnaire has made me rethink some
of my ideas and see exactly what my audience want.
Form this research I gathered, I
noticed that style seems to be
the most important to people
whilst thinking about what
comes time mind then whey
think pop artist. They also want
the artist to be unique and have
something different to everyone
else.

From this I have decided to
make my artist have something
unique about them with it either
being the style or hair. From my
song I think that the artist has a
unique voice which can be used
as a unique selling point.
From this research I can see
that all of my target audience
enjoy videos with a narrative
and also a performance.

This has made me defiantly
sure that my video will contain
both a performance and a
narrative as this is what the
research has showed me.
From this questions I wanted to see if my audience would
like to see the artist in the video or not as some people
would rather just have the narrative. From this question I
can see that having the artist in the video is reasonably
important.

This has made me decided that I will include the artist in
the video, however finding someone to fit the voice of the
artist will be difficult as everyone imagines someone
different by the voice of the artist.
From this question I wanted to
see where my audience watch
their videos, I can gather from
their answers that YouTube is
where they watch their videos as
it is easier and efficient. I also
learnt that they watch videos at
least once a week.

My final video will be posted on
YouTube as this is where they
watch the videos and it is free to
post videos on there.
This question was asked because I
wanted to see if my idea of violence in
the video would be interesting and if it
would draw them in to the video. I
learnt from the questions that most of
them think that the concept of the
video would be very interesting and
that it would draw them in. I also
asked how I could show this, and they
mainly said through scenes of violence
and a strong narrative.

I intend to try and make the narrative
as strong as possible to show the
themes of violence and bullying.
My initial idea was to end my video
on a sad ending, yet when I gathered
feedback from my class they said
they wanted maybe a cliff-hanger, I
asked this question because I wanted
to see what my audience would most
like. From this research I’ve learnt
that although some of my audience
liked the idea of a cliff-hanger the
others liked the other idea of a sad
ending.

This has made me question my initial
idea and I will do another focus
group and after asking them the
same question make up my mind of
which ending I will use.
The answers gathered back from this that
most of my audience would like to learn
more about the artists lifestyle that their
interests or other, however as some
people said they would like to learn about
the artist themselves and also the
interests I have decided that I will try and
include little things that they can learn
about the artist throughout the video.
This questions answers were
mostly evened out, the main thing
that appeals to the audience is the
actor, yet other things like story
line of the video and the setting
are also very important.

My idea is to try and make the
storyline of my video will be very
interesting and also that the actor
will be someone who can portray
they concept well. I will try and
make sure that the settings will be
somewhere in which the theme
can be shown well.
The reason I asked this question
was to see if my audience would
enjoy an artist who is more like
other artists or someone who is an
individual.

As my audience mainly answered
that they listen to pink more I have
decided that they would enjoy
someone who is more of an
individual and have something
about them that make them stand
out more against other people.
This question was asked because I
wanted to know if I included
animation in the video in certain
sections, the research showed me
that most of my target audience
would enjoy animation in certain
sections or the video although some
wouldn’t enjoy any at all.

This has made me think that I may
not include some animation even
though most of the audience said
they would enjoy it. When I do my
focus group I have decided that’s
when I will make my final decision of
animation.

Charts and analysis of audience research results

  • 1. I conducted a questionnaire on survey monkey to give to my target audience and get them to answer it. My aim of this questionnaire was to see which out of my ideas my audience would more enjoy when watching a music video. I also wanted to see if some of my ideas were appealing to them or not. This questionnaire has made me rethink some of my ideas and see exactly what my audience want.
  • 2. Form this research I gathered, I noticed that style seems to be the most important to people whilst thinking about what comes time mind then whey think pop artist. They also want the artist to be unique and have something different to everyone else. From this I have decided to make my artist have something unique about them with it either being the style or hair. From my song I think that the artist has a unique voice which can be used as a unique selling point.
  • 3. From this research I can see that all of my target audience enjoy videos with a narrative and also a performance. This has made me defiantly sure that my video will contain both a performance and a narrative as this is what the research has showed me.
  • 4. From this questions I wanted to see if my audience would like to see the artist in the video or not as some people would rather just have the narrative. From this question I can see that having the artist in the video is reasonably important. This has made me decided that I will include the artist in the video, however finding someone to fit the voice of the artist will be difficult as everyone imagines someone different by the voice of the artist.
  • 5. From this question I wanted to see where my audience watch their videos, I can gather from their answers that YouTube is where they watch their videos as it is easier and efficient. I also learnt that they watch videos at least once a week. My final video will be posted on YouTube as this is where they watch the videos and it is free to post videos on there.
  • 6. This question was asked because I wanted to see if my idea of violence in the video would be interesting and if it would draw them in to the video. I learnt from the questions that most of them think that the concept of the video would be very interesting and that it would draw them in. I also asked how I could show this, and they mainly said through scenes of violence and a strong narrative. I intend to try and make the narrative as strong as possible to show the themes of violence and bullying.

My initial idea was to end my video on a sad ending, yet when I gathered feedback from my class they said they wanted maybe a cliff-hanger, I asked this question because I wanted to see what my audience would most like. From this research I’ve learnt that although some of my audience liked the idea of a cliff-hanger the others liked the other idea of a sad ending. This has made me question my initial idea and I will do another focus group and after asking them the same question make up my mind of which ending I will use.

The answers gathered back from this that most of my audience would like to learn more about the artists lifestyle that their interests or other, however as some people said they would like to learn about the artist themselves and also the interests I have decided that I will try and include little things that they can learn about the artist throughout the video.
  • 9. This questions answers were mostly evened out, the main thing that appeals to the audience is the actor, yet other things like story line of the video and the setting are also very important. My idea is to try and make the storyline of my video will be very interesting and also that the actor will be someone who can portray they concept well. I will try and make sure that the settings will be somewhere in which the theme can be shown well.
  • 10. The reason I asked this question was to see if my audience would enjoy an artist who is more like other artists or someone who is an individual. As my audience mainly answered that they listen to pink more I have decided that they would enjoy someone who is more of an individual and have something about them that make them stand out more against other people.
  • 11. This question was asked because I wanted to know if I included animation in the video in certain sections, the research showed me that most of my target audience would enjoy animation in certain sections or the video although some wouldn’t enjoy any at all. This has made me think that I may not include some animation even though most of the audience said they would enjoy it. When I do my focus group I have decided that’s when I will make my final decision of animation.
