  • 2. WHAT IS MECHATRONICS
    Mechatronics is a combination of different branches of engineering, among which are: precision mechanics, electronics, computers and control systems.
  • 3. Background of the mechatronics
    In 1969 the Japanese company Yaskawa Electric Co. coined the term Mechatronics, receiving in 1971 the trademark right. In 1982 Yaskawa allows free use of the term.

    A mechatronic system is that system that collects digital signals, processes them and issues a response by means of actuators, generating movements or actions on the system which will act.

    The robots, numerically controlled machines, automatic guided vehicles, should be considered as mechatronic systems

    A mechatronic system is mainly composed of mechanisms, actuators, sensors and intelligent control.

    Regarding applications, the most important are robotics, transportation systems, manufacturing systems, CNC machines, nanomachines and biomecatronics.
