3. WORLD PROBLEM
As of 2011, 1.3 billion tons of food are
lost or wasted annually (about one third
of the global food production).
*****
Loss & wastage occurs on all steps in the food supply chain. In
low-income countries, most loss occurs during production, while
in developed countries much food (approx. 100 kgs or 220 lbs per
person and year) is wasted at the consumption stage.
4. DOMESTIC PROBLEM
In 2010, 73 billion disposable cups &
plastic water bottles in the U.S. ended
up in landfill (about 230 per person).
*****
Those had drained the natural resources while producing million
of pounds of waste & high levels greenhouse gases, which cause
the global phenomenon called CLIMATE CHANGE.

18. Indeed, we offered the trust to the heavens and the earth and the mountains, and they declined
to bear it and feared it; but man [undertook to] bear it. Indeed, he was unjust and ignorant.
(Qur’an 33:72)
HONORING AMANA
GIVEN FROM GOD
19. It is He who has appointed you guardians in the earth, and has raised some of you in rank above
others, the He may try you in what He has given you. Surely your Lord is swift in reckoning; and
surely He is All-Forgiving, All-Compassionate.
(Qur’an 6:165)
BE A KHALIFA
TAKE RESPONSIBILITY
“The earth is green and beautiful and Allah has appointed you his stewards over it.”
~ Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)
20. It is Allah who created the heavens and the earth and sent down rain from the sky and produced
thereby some fruits as provision for you and subjected for you the ships to sail through the sea by
His command and subjected for you the rivers.
(Qur’an 14:32)
OBSERVING TASKHIR
COSMIC & BIOSPHERIC DIMENSIONS
21. I Q R A
Read the AYAT (signs) in Qur’an and Nature
“The whole earth has been made a MASJID (mosque) for us.”
~ Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)
22. Verily, those who waste wealth are the brothers of the
devils and the devil is in rebellion against his Lord.
(Qur’an 17:27)
23. SAVE ENERGY
Switch-off & Unplug
Use energy saving lights
& energy efficient appliances
“Turn off your lamps or lights before you go to sleep”
~ Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)

30. STAY IN FITRA
BACK TO NATURE
“Corruption has appeared in the land and sea for that men’s own hands have earned, that Allah
may let them taste some part of what they have done, so that they may return to their senses.”
(Qur’an 30:41)
31. MAINTAIN THE MIZAN
KEEP THE BALANCE
The All Merciful has taught the Qur’an. He created man and taught him the Explanation. The sun
and the moon to a reckoning, and the stars and the trees bow themselves; and heaven - He raised
it up and set the Balance.
(Qur’an 55:1-7)
32. Conserve Water
Practicing Eco-Wudu
(two-handfuls of water)
“Do not waste water even if you were
at a running stream.”
~ Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)And We send down blessed water (rain)
from the sky, then We produce therewith
gardens and grain (every kind of harvest)
that are reaped.
(Qur’an 50:9)
33. Plant Trees & Grow Garden
“If the Resurrection were established upon one of you while he has in his
hand a seed, then let him plant it.” ~ Prophet
Muhammad (pbuh)
“There is none amongst the Muslims who plants a tree or sows seeds, and
then a bird, or a person or an animal eats from it, but is regarded as a
charitable gift for him.” ~ Prophet
Muhammad (pbuh)
34. O you who have believed, eat from the good things which We have provided for you
and be grateful to Allah if it is (indeed) Him that you worship.
(Qur’an 2:172)
Consume Local Food
food travels an average of 1,200 to 2,200
miles
imagine how much carbon is emitted..!
35. “No one can absolutely know
the future, but this does not stop
us making forecasts and
modifying our behavior
accordingly”
Tim Flannery

36. contribute to protect the Planet and reduce Global Warming
Let’s be Smart & Active in Community
join local social & eco-justice movement
Conserve & reuse water
Consume less products
Grow your own food
Green building & retrofit
Save energy & use efficiently
Engage activity in nature
Editor's Notes
Note to speakers:
If it helps you explain to your audiences – here are two examples of what one tonne of carbon “is” in practical terms
- A transatlantic return flight from London to New York will emit more than a tonne of carbon per passenger.
- Leaving ten twin fluorescent light fittings on for eight hours a day will produce one tonne of carbon a year.
- Reducing the heating temperature in an office by just 1°C can save 30 tonnes of carbon a year.
