The document summarizes the results of a project in Catalonia that used aerial images from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and the Catalan Cartographic Institute to remotely check agricultural subsidy applications. The project reduced the time spent on on-site checks from an average of 12 hours per farmer using traditional methods to 1-2 hours per farmer using aerial images. It also reduced costs from an estimated €10.30 per parcel for on-site checks to around €3.50 per parcel using aerial images. The project demonstrated that using aerial images can improve efficiency and meet deadlines for checking agricultural subsidies.

25. PERFORMANCE IN CHECKS WITH AERIAL IMAGES
1 Image costs:
MOTIVATION
• Current • 0€/ parcel in the case of public (free) images of ICC (DMC)
situation
• Needs • 3€/ parcel in the case of ordered to ICC (DMC)
• 7€/ parcel in the case of images with UAV *
2 * This cost could be highly reduced in case of wider areas ordered
MATERIAL
METHODS

Personnel costs:
• Publication • Check with aerial photograph in the office;
• Integration 200 parcels/day = 0,55 €/parcel
• Visit to specific parcels ( less than 9%) when images are
