2. My group members were Deni & Rae
we managed the tasks very evenly between the three of us as some of us done some
editing on our video while the remaining did some practise work on examples so we
improved our knowledge on editing footage.
The time management was very limited as my group and I couldn’t predict how much
time we was supposed to have but to extend our hours on the prelim task we as a
group decided to come back at lunch time to use the extra 40 mins to continue our
work.
The problems we came across was when editing on Adobe Premier was we had to
make sure the shots we filmed before were acceptable so when we put it all
together, we had enough shots to make a whole scene but our solution was to retake
the scenes we messed up therefore we could always remove the shots that we didn’t
want afterwards .
The things I would do differently would be to set a deadline to how long we may start
shooting to editing our footage.

3. From when me and my group first started working together we had to plan in
advance on how we was going to do a video footage of a 2 minute conversation,
but we had to start from basics for example; in order to do the filming we had to
create a storyboard of a maximum of 14 shots and with our media knowledge,
find the most effective use of camera angles that worked well with that specific
shot, once we completed that we did a workshop on how to use the equipment
that was provided for and therefore understand the parts needed.
Once we completed our storyboard, the issues we discussed was the location(s)
that was needed in our sequence and who was acting the parts.

discussions we have had in class recently about digital camerasdiscussions we have had in class recently about digital cameras
The technology we used to complete the task was
Canon HD Camera - which helped our group film the scenes, the things I learned about using
the cameras was how steady and accurate you have to be for example; (spirit level has to be
in the red circle).
The Tape - inserted in the side of the camera which recorded all our takes and you could
only put it in a certain way , however the drawback is you cant replay your recorded scenes.
The battery - inserted at the back of the camera a certain way and it shouldn’t be forced in
otherwise you may damage the camera and may never work.
The tripod - most important part of our equipment as it gave my group and I the advantage
of getting the right type of angles and heights, we placed the camera on top and had the
opportunity of making it high or low and being able to turn it so we got movement shots,
without this when filming, the camera could be tilted and not clear enough.
Adobe Premier - software we used on the computer to edit our scenes and make it into the
final film, we was learned how to cut a scene and move a shot from the front to the back.
5. 4) What factors did you have to take into account when planning, shooting4) What factors did you have to take into account when planning, shooting
and editing?and editing?
The factors that me and my group had to take into account was
Making sure that before we actually said “Action” we gave the camera a few
seconds to adjust and certain things were ready before we began the scene
The amount of effort into planning our storyboard so it made sense and
wouldn’t confuse the viewers watching it.
When we was shooting I was surprised at how long it actually takes just to do a 2
minute scene because we had to shoot the same thing repeatedly from all
angles and remember the facts for example; the line of thirds and how a shot
such as a close-up should only feature the top of the head and chin
When it came to editing , the factors I had to remember was replaying the
ordered scenes so it made sense and it flowed smoothly without any overlaps or
gaps.
6. 5) How successful was your sequence? Please identify what worked well and with5) How successful was your sequence? Please identify what worked well and with
hindsight, what would you improve/do differently?hindsight, what would you improve/do differently?
Personally, I think our groups sequence was successful as we able to get the
shooting done in the amount of time that was given and successfully got all 14
shots we wanted in order to put our prelim task together on the computer.
But if I was to improve or change anything , I would make sure that we used the
extra time that was given to us and therefore got more work done than before.
7. 6)What have you learnt from completing the task? Discuss time management6)What have you learnt from completing the task? Discuss time management

Overall, the things I have learnt from completing the prelim task was being able
to work as a group when shooting and discussing the problems that may occur
when shooting our scenes such as; the location, time getting the right amount of
work done.
Also I have gained more information about the equipment that my group and I
used so I have a better understanding as to how modern day blockbusters are
made and the massive amount time it takes to make a 2 ½ hour film , which is
probably an average of 6 months to a full year
