A Model UN is a creation of the United Nations proceedings, with students role-playing representatives
of different countries in UN committees like the General Assembly, Security Council etc. The purpose of a
Model UN is for students to achieve a greater understanding not only of the UN, but also of global issues,
through an interactive and enjoyable educational experience. It is an attempt to engage students with
global challenges, and encourages them to think creatively with an international outlook to problem-
solving, that attracts many of the brightest minds in the country. Currently UN Secretary- General Ban
Ki- Moon himself was once an MUNer.
Our Conference structure includes a Secretary General and Under- Secretary Generals, with committees
handling Finance, Fundraising, Logistics and Communications. We plan to simulate four main
committees in the MUN. There will be a subsidiary body, the Press Corps. This will act as international
media covering the discussions and debates of the conference and publishing their reports in a daily
Newsletter.
