- 2. Born in Eisenach Germany in 1685 J.S. Bach is a composer who lived during the Baroque period of music
- 3. Came from a Musical Family – some played violin, some oboe, some organ and harpsichord. Others were music copyists.
- 4. Bach’s father, Johann Ambrosius, taught Bach to play the violin
- 5. His older brother taught him harpsichord, clavichord and organ
- 6. At age of 10, Bach’s parents passed away, so he lived with his big brother.

- 8. 1st Job Organist • First job as an Organist when he was 18. • Played organ and violin for Duke in Weimar Germany. • Became the concertmaster, the lead of violinist of the Duke’s Orchestra.
- 9. Bach wish to work for the Prince. But Duke refused and threw Bach into jail~
- 10. 2nd Job When Bach got out of the jail, he head straight to the town of Cöthen to work for the Prince.
- 11. 3rd Job - Director • Bach moved to Leipzig (another town in Germany) • He worked in the church, directing and training singers. • He also organize music for several churches in town and for the University of Leipzig. Bach Church, Arnstadt
