Johann Sebastian Bach was born in 1685 in Germany into a family of musicians. He was orphaned at age 10 and went to live with his brother, where he furthered his musical training. Bach went on to study music and hold several prestigious musical posts throughout Germany, composing over 1,000 works including the Brandenburg Concertos, The Well-Tempered Clavier, and works for solo violin and cello. He was one of the most influential composers of the Baroque era.
