3. A PERFORMANCE
VIDEO’S PURPORSE
IS TO ENTERTAIN
THEIR AUIDENCE...
The main focus
will be on the
Costume, make up and band.
choreography will be
more important than
staging and location.
We want our audience
to be mesmerized by
our band.
Choreography
will play a huge
part in our
video.
4. THE COLOUR ORANGE...
The colour orange radiates warmth and happiness, combining the
physical energy and stimulation of red with the cheerfulness of
yellow.
Orange relates to 'gut reaction' or our gut instincts, as opposed to
the physical reaction of red or the mental reaction of yellow.
Orange offers emotional strength in difficult times. It helps us to
bounce back from disappointments and despair, assisting in recovery
from grief.
Orange is an optimistic and uplifting colour that rejuvenates our
spirit.
Orange aids in the assimilation of new ideas and frees the spirit
of its limitations, giving us the freedom to be ourselves. At the
same time it encourages self-respect and respect of others.

6. Why we chose the song? How colour links with the
song?
We chose Donna Summer ‘Hot
Stuff’ because we wanted to
perform an upbeat and timeless
song.
We wanted to be different and
not choose house or indie like
every one else, we wanted our
performance to be unique.
Furthermore ‘hot stuff’ is a very
fiery powerful song which
connotes to sexual desires, we
want to emphasise the freedom
women had to express their
sexual desires.
Red and yellow make orange so
the colour red and yellow will
also be apart of our colour
scheme.
We chose these colours because
red represents the lustful and
sexual side of orange where as
yellow represents the mellow,
calm and bright full side of
orange.
Consequently making ‘orange’
which shows both sides of our
song and our band.
7. Lyrics..
Sittin' here eatin' my heart out waitin'
Waitin' for some lover to call
Dialed about a thousand numbers
lately
Almost rang the phone off the wall
Lookin' for some hot stuff baby this
evenin'
I need some hot stuff baby tonight
I want some hot stuff baby this
evenin'
Gotta have some hot stuff
Gotta have some love tonight
I need hot stuff
I want some hot stuff
I need some hot stuff
Lookin' for a lover who needs another
Don't want another night on my own
Wanna share my love with a warm
blooded lover
Wanna bring a wild man back home
Gotta have some hot love baby this
evenin'
I need some hot stuff baby tonight
I want some hot stuff baby this
evenin'
Gotta have some lovin'
Gotta have love tonight
I need hot stuff
Hot love
Lookin' for hot love
[Instrumental Interlude]
How's about some hot stuff baby this
evenin'
I need some hot stuff baby tonight
Lookin' for my hot stuff baby this
evenin'
I need some hot stuff baby tonight,
yeah-yeah
I want some hot stuff this evenin'
I want some hot stuff baby tonight
8. Costume and
make-up
Big curly hair
represents the beauty
of natural black ‘afro’
hair. We would like our
band to have this kind
of hairstyle
Fitted, figure hugging
clothes depicts the
curvaceous body of
many black females,
we want to empower
this body shape in our
video, so our band will
wear fitted clothing.
MAKE UP IS KEY!
In our video our bands
make up will be
eccentric as well as
sexy. We will aim to
emphasise the eyes by
using fake eye-lashes,
mascara, eye liner, and
eye shadow. We will
also incorporate red
lipstick in to the
mixture. Once again
portraying a sexy and
feisty look females.
10. High wasted have
been renovated to
disco pants.
Big bold earnings to
emphasise a women's
facial structure.
Long, bold and sparkly
nails with a modern twist.
(gems/ patterns)
11. Our target audience
are 16- 36 year
olds.
Our music will
appeal to young
adults more,
because in our
songs we are
expressing explicit
notions.
Our music is NOT
aimed for people
younger than 15.
We will get male
fans by inciting
them with our
outfits and dance
moves.
Although our make
up will be bold,
some in some
scenes we will have
minimal makes up
so that at female
fans feel like they
belong (fit into our
image).
We will get followers
by setting up social
networking sites and
doing free
performances in
colleges and at
universities.
We will have a
complimentary
blend of modern
and 70s ideas so
that our music will
still appeal to
young adults in this
era.
Ethic groups such
as Blacks may
appreciate our
music more due to
the urban vibe.

15. The people in this music video are coloured in a range of different
colours. This could represent that everyone is equal as 1. We personally
like the vibrant colours that are used because they match the type of
song. This song has an upbeat tempo and the colours suggest happiness.
We would personally use this form of editing because it complements the
song. The editing and the song enhances the theory of Andrew
Goodwin.
In this shot there is a
reflection of a piece of
land on the sand. The
shot allows the viewer to
see water as well as the
reflection. I personally
like this shot because it
is diverse. We would
consider using this
concept in our music
video because it captures
the viewer.
In the screen shot editing
has been used to enhance
the lighting on the artist.
We personally like the
editing used in this shot,
because it makes the
viewer concentrate on the
artist. We may decide to
use this technique in our
music video to enhance
the character in a dark
room to make the
character the focal point.
The photo shows a funky background by using a
green screen, then adding a background on the
computer where the green screen is. We personally
like the use of the funky background which would
complement the genre and era that our music video
is from. It is highly likely that we will use this idea in
our music video. Above it shows different images of
the rapper in different forms. We are fond of using
this idea because it tells a story. It also allows the
viewer to see different stages of a process which
shows progression. The colours that are used are
vibrant which matches the mood of the song. This
idea also relates to the Andrew Goodwin theory.
