2. Inclusion
► Inclusion is a process which ensures that those at
risk of poverty and social exclusion gain the
opportunities and resources necessary to
participate fully in economic, social and
cultural life and to enjoy a standard of
living and well-being that is considered
normal in the society in which they live . It
ensures that they have a greater participation in
decision making which affects their lives and
access to their fundamental rights.

3. Marginalization

Marginalization is defined as a complex process of
relegating specific groups of people to the lower or outer
edge of society. It effectively pushes these groups of
people to the margin of society economically, politically,
culturally and socially following the policy of exclusion. It
denies a section of the society equal access to productive
resources and avenues for the realization of their
productive human potential and opportunities for their full
capacity utilization.
4. Young people with fewer
opportunities

YPFOs, as defined by current EU policies, are 73 million
young European citizens who are at a disadvantage
compared to their peers because they face one or more of
the following challenges:
socio-economic obstacles, mental or physical disability,
unemployment, educational difficulties, cultural & ethnic
differences, health problems and/or geographical
obstacles.
5. Exclusion

Exclusion is a complex and multi-dimensional process. It
involves the lack or denial of resources, rights, goods and
services, and the inability to participate in the normal
relationships and activities, available to the majority of
people in a society, whether in economic, social, cultural or
political arenas. It affects both the quality of life of
individuals and the equity and cohesion of society as a
whole.
6. Discrimination
► Discrimination is the act of distinguishing between
objects or individuals. This word is originaly
neutral in meaning, synonymous to the word
”distinction”, but when it concerns social matters, it
usually has a negative connotation as it is used to
describe the act of making unfair or unjust
distinctions, such as separating a particular
social group from others by treating it
worse . Discrimination can for example be based
on ethnic origin, religion or beliefs, a handicap,
age, gender or sexual orientation.
