2. The protagonists of the album advertisements
are the four members of Mumford and Sons.
They are captured in four separate images. This
suggests that although they are together as a
band, they have separate personalities within
the band.
The men are wearing clothing which resembles
a farmer, or someone who lives in the country.
This suggests that they are a country or folk
band.
The images have a copycat style of ‘Instagram’
filters, which appeals to a younger audience
3. Narrative
The folk band are an ensemble yet individuals.
The images are all mid-shots, suggesting the
equality within the band. In addition to this, the
mid-shots are superimposed over other images
of the band, suggesting that they work as a
team.
This gives a conceptual backstory, for example
an audience might interpret a story of a life long
friendship of the band.
4. Iconography
Each band member is holding an authentic
instrument, suggesting their individual roles in
the band, which is iconic for a folk band. In
addition to this, the images are set in a corn
field at sunset. The oversaturation of the image
highlights the authenticity of the image and
increases the effect of the iconic ‘folk band’
setting.
