Cultural Complex
53. • Gurugram has witnessed exponential growth in terms of population over the last few years due to
employment avenues. This has led to unplanned development over the years in past which
resulted in issues like traffic, water deficit and pollution.
• Traffic Management is the need of the hour. This has to be done by creating infrastructure after
carrying out mobility studies. Challenge is to create infrastructure without causing inconvenience
to the citizens.
• Augment water supply capacity of the treatment plants which could cater to the needs of people
in future while also reducing dependency on groundwater resources. Automation of existing
utilities, self metering etc. to be implemented in line with the smart city solutions.
• Curbing air pollution by proper enforcement of guidelines of Hon’ble National Green Tribunal
• Maintaining ecological balance by conserving the green cover.
• Sustaining thrust on cycling focused initiatives, including Raahgiri and Car-Free days to curb air
pollution and increase adoption of eco-friendly modes of transport.
Challenges and Future Roadmap
The Integrated project comprises door to door waste collection, transportation of waste to the plant and transforming the waste into compost and electricity. The never ending garbage heap and overflowing leachate at the Bandhwari landfill bears testimony to what poor waste management can eventually lead to.
