Summary: This position is primarily responsible for developing new technology to meet the needs of our customers as
well as internal technical road map strategies by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Delivers out-of-box designs towards innovative solutions. Researches next generation technologies,
identifies technological threats and targets complementary or adjacent space opportunities.
• Designs and develops 3D conceptual models and possibly prototype machines to deliver to prospective
engineering departments.
• Works with Engineers to validate concepts via testing machines/parts/methods and ensuring design intent
and performance specifications are met.
• Primary project will focus on advanced casting equipment design and thermal modeling.
• Utilizes advanced simulation/FEA/CFD tools and design improvement/optimization in a wide array of
thermal management applications.
• Creates and publishes white papers on research topics. Delivers test reports to summarize experimental
findings and has the ability to employ statistical analysis towards the data.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience: BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from four-year college or technical
school; seven or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A
working knowledge of a wide array of tooling, process, materials and equipment design is required.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions,
and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups
of customers or employees of organization and deliver detailed technical presentations. Strong communication skills and
a professional demeanor to interact with customers.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and
fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages,
ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only
limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule
form.
Computer Skills: Basic computer experience, including MS Office and email as well as AutoCAD and 3D Cad
software, preferably SolidWorks, with 5+ years of experience in rapidly creating, manipulating and understanding
drawings. Strong working knowledge of FEA/CFD software packages as they relate to thermal/fluid interactions.
Other Qualifications: Must understand and have the ability to lead development projects from project proposal to project
completion. Knowledge of casting and materials science is helpful.
