3. CYCLE RICKSHAW
(Introduction)
In India there are many rural areas and modern cities where the manual
cycle rickshaw & cart rickshaw is mostly used as a transporting medium or
load carrying purpose though the rickshaw is used in almost every part of the
country.
starting torque required is very high when the rickshaw is loaded.
4. PROBLEM FACED BY RICKSHAW MAN
High starting torque required
Starting from sudden stopping
Going up hill
Operating while overloading
5. OBJECTIVE OF EMR
To utilize the mechanical energy or waste mechanical energy stored in
spiral springs.
To increasing the starting torque
To reduce the human effort
Help to enhance the speed
6. CONCEPT OF EMR
installed a small mechanism of spiral springs in rickshaw
which is low in cost and can help the rickshaw-man to
overcome from problem faced
energy gets stored in the spiral springs when the pedals
are rotated in reverse direction
the stored energy in the spiral springs get utilized as soon
as the rickshaw-man starts pedaling in clockwise direction
Energy can be utilized at any time while operating as the
energy is stored very quickly
7. Spiral Spring
Material used for Spiral springs:
The most suitable material for springs are those which
can store up the maximum amount of work or energy in a given
weight or volume of spring material, without permanent
deformation. These steels should have a high elastic limit as well as
high deflection value.
Types of Spiral Spring :
Power Spring
Hairspring
Brush Spring
Constant Force Springs
Spring steel
10. COST EFFECTIVE SOLUTION
Battery operated Rickshaw Rs 40,000/-
E Rickshaw Rs 50,000/-
Auto Rickshaw Rs 1,50,000/-
Solar Rickshaw Rs 2,00,000/-
Efficient Mechanical Rickshaw Rs 25,000/-
Hence EMR is having less capital cost as well as it does not require
any extra running cost of fuel.
11. CONCLUSION
We with our sincere efforts are able to
materialize the idea as conceptual working
model. The device with further refinements and
modifications shall prove as an asset for reduction
in starting torque.
