10. Acute FNI Drivers
Impact of Covid‐19 Pandemic :
restrictions related to COVID‐
19, were added to existing
vulnerabilities, they have
degraded the already fragile
livelihoods of vulnerable
populations.
Economic factors (high prices,
slowed economy) contributed to a
slowdown in the situation (Liberia,
Sierra Leone);
Conflict and insecurity remain the main drivers
of food insecurity in the Lac Chad basin
(Nigeria, Chad and Niger), Liptako Gourma
Authority zone (Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger);
Large displacement of population
because of conflict and insecurity.
In total, there are 4.1 million IDPs
across the region

12. THE GOVERNMENTS AND PARTNERS
 Provide immediate assistance to food and nutritional insecurity
populations "crisis and worse" located mainly in northeastern Nigeria,
Lake Chad and northern Chad, northern and western Niger, northern
Burkina Faso, northern Mali, and southeastern Mauritania, Liberia, Sierra
Leone and western Cameroon.
 Support the deployment of humanitarian assistance by ensuring access to
inaccessible areas of northern Nigeria, northern and central Mali, Burkina
Faso, Chad and Niger
are recommended to

13. THE GOVERNMENTS AND PARTNERS
• Develop resilience‐building actions for people under pressure
(phase 2) specifically income‐generating activities for women
and young people
• Continue and strengthen measures to prevent and manage
acute malnutrition in areas where alert rates are reported,
including in the Lake Chad Basin, Liptako de Gourma
are recommended to

14. CILSS AND PARTNERS
• Continue to strengthen the technical capabilities of CH
analysis cells to improve the quality of analyses ;
• Supporting national mechanisms for collecting, processing
and disseminating information on Agriculture, Food and
Nutrition Security and Resilience.

15. DIFFICULTIES
• Lack of ownership on the CH management in some
countries
• Limited availability of data in Benin, Ghana and
Guinea Bissau
• Limited knowlege of the CH process in Liberia,
Ghana, Sierra Leone
