2. LOCATION
The Netherlands is a country that is part of
the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Most of it is
in Western Europe, but there are also some
colonies in the Caribbean. More than 17
million people live there. To the north and
west of the European part of the Netherlands
is the North Sea, and to the east is Germany
and to the south is Belgium. The Netherlands
is a small country but many people live there.
It is one of the most densely populated
countries of the world. Most people in the
Netherlands speak Dutch. The capital is
Amsterdam.
3. POLITICS
The Netherlands is a constitutional monarchy. That means the country has a king,
but the real power is in the hands of a parliament, elected by the Dutch people.
4. FAMOUS FOOD
Stroopwafel
If you try one Dutch sweet treat, make it a Stroopwafel. Two thin waffles stuck
together with a layer of sweet syrup, are best enjoyed hot from a street market or
bakery.
5. GEOGRAPHY
The North sea is located to the north and west of
the Netherlands. The Dutch have a saying:God
made the Earth but the Dutch made Holland. The
Netherlands also has rivers. Some of the Rivers
are: Amer, Donge, Ems, Noord, Lek e.t.c.
Netherlands hasn’t got mountains.It is a flat
country.
6. CLIMATE
The wind direction in the European Netherlands is southwest, which causes a mild maritime
climate, with warm summers and cool winters, and typically high humidity. This is especially true
close to the Dutch coastline, where the difference in temperature between summer and winter, as
well as between day and night is noticeably smaller than it is in the southeast of the country.
7. SIGHTS
The Netherlands is known everywhere as the land of windmills, canals, and tulips,
and today’s visitors will find these among its many tourist attractions. But along
with the amazing gardens and picturesque villages, they’ll also find a capital filled
with museums showcasing the country’s rich heritage of artists. So it’s easy to do
at least a little sightseeing the Dutch way: by bicycle.
8. FAMOUS DUTCH PEOPLE
Vincent Van Gogh was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter who is
among the most famous and influential figures in the history of
Western art. In just over in decade he created about 2,100 artworks,
including around 860 oil paintings, most of them in the last two years
of his life.

9. Rembrandt harmenszoon
Rembrandt Harmenszoon was a Dutch draughtsman, painter and
printmaker. An innovative and prolific master in three media, he is
generally considered one of the greatest artists in the history of art
and the most important in Dutch art history.
