Portugal has many mountains. The two tallest mountains
are Mount Pico and Piquinho (2351m high).There is a
lake in southern Portugal the Alqueva Dam. The major
river in northern Portugal is the Douro.
4. Climate/Weather
The climate of Portugal has mild winters and
pleasant summers. In the North,rainfall is more
frequent and temperatures are lower.
5. Major Cities
Some of the major cities is: Lisbon, Porto, Amadora,
Braga, Setubal, Coimbra, Queluz, Funchal, Cacém,
Vila Nova de Gaia.
6. Natural disasters
After of a strong earthquake a tsunami in Portugal
reached a height of 15,20 meters. At this tsunami on
11/01/1755 a total of 63.000 people have been
killed.
8. Food
Portugal is famous for its fish. Its meat is also very
good. There are many wines that are very good and
Portugal is famous for them.
9. People
Vasco da Gama was a Portuguese
explorer who was the European to
reach India by sea.As the first person
to sail directly from Europe to India,
he linked Europe and Asia by ocean
route.
Born in 1450, Bartolomeu Dias was
sent by Portuguese King John II to
explore the coast of Africa and find a
way to the Indian Ocean. Dias
departed circa August 1487,
rounding the southernmost tip of
Africa in January, 1488.
