Universal Stainless produces semi-finished and finished specialty steel long products and plate, including
nickel alloy, stainless steel, tool steel and aircraft quality low alloy steels, in a wide variety of grades and
product forms. Products, sold to service centers, forgers, re-rollers and original equipment manufacturers, are
further processed by our customers for use in aerospace, power generation, oil & gas and heavy equipment
manufacturing.
Responsible for creating processes to establish world-class leadtimes and delivery performance, reduce inventories, and
establish best-in-class customer service across four footprints. Created a group, separate from Operations, to manage
Supply Chain and Production Control. USAP produces finished and semi-finished long products and plate in a wide range
of alloys.
• Manage the continuous reduction of late orders and improvement of On-time delivery. Establish goals, action
plans, and timeline.
• Implement Finite Loading; identify and measure constraints, establish Plan Dates and Adherence to Plan
processing for all operations and all sequences across plants.
• Determine and manage cycle times and lead times for all products.
• Source vendors for increased vertical integration of products, negotiate short term and long term contracts,
manage all production at vendors, coordinate and conduct on site audits.
• Establish a partnership with a third party with world-class standing to manage ultra-sonic testing to exact

three sites.

• Consult with Corporate VP of Engineering to establish CapEx projects and priorities for capability and capacity
issues.

• Day Spa, Lakeville, MA – on site consulting to determine the business benefits of a proposed acquisition-merger
and make a final recommendation to the owner. I had complete autonomy to turn the business around using
Lean. Fired and hired employees, implemented cellular layouts for customer service, 5-S work stations with
focus on point of use, value stream mapped the process, created work standards, measured daily profitability.

generating tools for non-inventory items. Created bar-code labels and a production procedure for labeling SKU’s

using toll processing procedures at service centers to eliminate wastes, defining universal terminology for
naming cut inventory (parent – sibling relationships), and standardizing order entry procedures to reduce
variation and quality problems due to misinterpreting customer specifications.
