  • PITCHSTYLE SHEETAND LAYOUT
  • Draft PITCH• Name of magazine- snuff• Genre- rock• Style/ attitude- casual• Genre- rock• Cost- £2.90• Target audience- 16 - 24• Sample articles• Bi-weekly
  • Title• I have chosen the title “SNUFF” because it is a short word and easy to say and remember. I came up with the idea of snuff as it is the name of a slipknot song and my genre for this magazine is rock; slipknot are a metal band. I think this name fits nicely with the name of a magazine as it is catchy• This also fits with the type of audience I have chosen to use because snuff is an old thing associated with snuff boxes used in the war. This is bringing an old thing back to life and it shows my magazine is rebellious as it is an older persons thing and my target audience is young.
  • Target audienceNRS social grade ABC1- my targetaudience will be middle class as theywill have a little extra money to spendon magazines (luxuries). My target audience will be quite youngas my results from the questionnaire aremainly from a 16-19 year olddemographic.I will also aim my magazine towards themale audience as from my results moremales than females did it. I will stillinclude the females as a ¼ of themanswered my survey. This shows moremales buy or are interested in musicmagazines.Based on my research the audience areprimarily white British. Due to where Ilive.
  • Genre style/attitude• My chosen genre for my magazine will be a wide variety of rock genres. The style and attitude of my magazine will be casual, by usinginformal language and using an equal text to picture ratiobecause from my results I can see that my audience prefer a50:50 text to picture ratio. I will include this many imagesbecause younger people are not interested in reading lots ofinformation. A magazine is a luxury and shouldn’t be seen as areading chore. The style of my magazine will be aimed to appeal to theyounger generation. So it will include lots of attitude imagesnew bands competitions posters anything that will appeal tothis difficult audience. It will be in your face and full of newinteresting things. My inspiration for this choice comes from magazines such asKerrang! and Metal Hammer. I want my magazine to have atypical rock magazine look which will be instantlyrecognisable. I will do this by choosing an appropriate colourscheme, wording and images.
  • Cost and frequencyFrom my research I found that my audiencewould be willing to pay between £2-£3 for amagazine. I chose £2.90 as it is close to themaximum amount willing to pay but just underas my audience will think they are getting agood deal.I chose to publish this magazinefortnightly, although my results are mainly formonthly. I think in order for my magazine to dowell and become popular it needs to be fairlyfrequent.£2.90 is not a lot of money to pay fortnightly asmy audience is young and may not have a lot ofdisposable income.
  • structure• I will have approximately 50-60 pages in my magazine; this will be a fairly small magazine. It is quite frequent so there will be less information to include. My magazine will include reviews, interviews, special features and postersstretching across several pages. It will also include lots of new information on bands, festivals and otherrecent issues occurring in the music world.I want to include interviews as it brings the audience closer to the bandmember being interviewed. It also gives the audience member answers toany questions they may have about the band.

  • Style sheet
  • Fonts for my magazine
  • Colour schemeI have chosen the colour scheme red whiteand black because of the results from mysurvey. This colour scheme clearly appealsto my target audience . Plus they are allvey strong opposite colours. The redrepresents the attitude I want for mymagazine. The black is dark and representsthe dark music I will include such asslipknot. Also these are the most stereotypical colours for rock and rock magazines.
  • Sample image For my front cover I will use a medium close up. Like this image here. I want to include other stories on my front page and a medium close us as my main image will let me. This is possible because there is space around the person in the image to be able to include other headlines.
