2. Brian's parents- his mum is very pushy and expect great things from him also
she always wants him to study.
Bender’s parents- We don’t see his parents but he does explain how he sees
them and he sees them as bossy, intimidating and also explains that his
farther beats him and his mother if she speaks back to his dad.
Claire’s parents- we only see her dad and he is a push over as he thinks its
not fair that she should have an after school as all she did is skip school
and go out shopping this shows he's a push over as he is defending Claire
on something that is clearly wrong. Claire Standish: [about her parents] I
don't think either one of them gives a shit about me. It's like they use me
just to get back at each other.
Alison’s parents- we never see her parent’s all we see is the car and as she
goes up to say goodbye the car drives up this adds comedy to the scene
also this show that the parents seem like they don’t care.
Andrew’s parents- his parents are a lot like Claire’s and Brian’s we only see
his dad and he also thinks that he should not be in the after school and
he also expects him to be something great and doesn’t want him to mess
up his sporting career.

3. Everyone in the school , like the students and the teachers step on the
janitor, because they think he isn’t important, or as if he is worthless.
He doesn’t get on well with John Bender, because when Bender asks him
“How does one become a janitor? Andrew here, is very interested in
pursuing a career in the custodial arts.” Carl replies “Oh, Really? You
think I’m just some untouchable peasant? Peon? Huh? Maybe so but
following a broom around after shitheads like you for the past eight years
I’ve learned a couple of things. I look through your letters, I look through
your lockers. I listen to your conversations, you don’t know that, but I
do. I am the eyes and ears of this institution my friends. By the way that
lock is twenty minutes fast.” Carls response to benders question is
tensely spoken, as if it was spoken angrily. I think that Carl feels as
though he has been stepped on for too long, he gives a long reply to the
question, as if he has been bottling it up for a long time.

4. Principle Vernon believes himself to be a swell guy and a man of respect.
But he’s secretly full of fear and self loathing, he takes out his anger and
frustration on the students and is determined to make them feel as
worthless as he has become. Throughout the film his and hatred towards
bender increases. After bender attracts his attention so the kids can get
back too the detention, Vernon takes him into the room and threatens
him “But someday when you’re out of here and you’ve forgotten about
this place, and they’ve forgotten about you and you're wrapped up in
your own pathetic life, I'm gonna be there and I'm going to kick the living
shit out of you.” he then tries his hardest to get bender too hit him but
he wont budge “Just take the first shot, I'm begging you, take a shot, just
one hit, come one, just one swing.”
In detention Vernon says too bender “what if your family- what if your dope
was on fire” bender replies in a cocky comment. Principal Vernon
changes what he was going to say too bender from family too dope
because he knows dope is more important to him that his family.
Principal Vernon's not all that bad though, in the end he contributes to
teaching the kids self acceptance.
