2. Open wiring
• It is most simple, inexpensive and safe. The wires are placed directly
on the surface of walls, ceilings and other structural elements. In
order to protect the wires cable trunking is used more often. They
also use corrugation, plastic pipes, hangers, insulation pads, etc.
• The benefit of open wiring is that installation of such a system is
quite simple. There is also access to any part of the cable, thus you
can change the wiring diagram.
• The main disadvantage is its unaesthetic look. There are lots of
wires in a modern country house, and if all those wires will be on
the walls, then for sure such a look won't please their masters. It
should be said that if you are planning finishing your home in a
country style, then if you want you can turn this disadvantage into
an exclusive design element and make the electric wiring on
porcelain insulators in retro style.
3. Concealed wiring
• Concealed wiring in a wooden structure is the most popular and modern
way of wiring in country houses. It should be said that this type takes lots
of time to install it, plus it is very expensive. Security requirements
increase when wiring goes inside the wooden structure. All the works
must be done extremely carefully (one crack in the log can hopelessly spoil
the look of the whole room). It is a demand that electrician should have
good skills and be able to use his tools "with closed eyes".
• Advantages: the perfect interior design. Actually the reason why most
customers choose the type of hidden wiring, because in result you get
beautiful and tidy interior. Plus installation of concealed wiring also allows
you to make additional light sources.
• Disadvantages of concealed wiring are following: high cost, accurate plan
of the location of all electrical points at the initial stage of house finishing,
impossibility to redo the work, increased fire hazard if not properly
installed or by using poor quality materials, which are inappropriate for
this type of installation.
