Key findings included the identification of pathogens like Brucella suis and Cysticercus in imported slaughter pigs. Bacterial contamination of meat was higher in town markets than villages. Consumers reported high pork consumption and gastrointestinal illness. The study concludes there are risks to human and animal health from pork production and marketing in Nagaland, and identifies a need for risk communication and management strategies to promote animal health
