Slide 1: This presentation will cover the benefits of professional development in the work of educators. It will explore the ISTE community and the resources it provides for teachers as they seek to
implement ISTE Standards for Students and Educators.
Slide 2: Professional organizations provide a range of benefits to educators. They connect teachers with other educators, broadening their community, resources, and collaboration opportunities. They also
provide resources in understanding and incorporating technology in the classroom. With a variety of resources, teachers can keep up-to date with latest trends, apps, and programs. Professional
organizations also help teachers continue to grow in their understanding and implementation of the ISTE Standards for Educators as well as the Standards for students.
Slide 3: As a new teacher, it gives me a foundation for how to incorporate technology into the structure and curriculum of my classroom. With a broad group of perspectives, it provides me with unique
opportunities for collaboration and mentorship. And with an overwhelming amount of research and information available, these communities organize tools in a way that makes it easier to sift through.
Slide 4: ISTE provides a variety of avenues to connect with professional communities. BLOGS, podcasts, and journals are a few of the resources they provide for educators. The Journal of Digital Learning
in Teacher Education is a quarterly publication done in partnership with ISTE Professional Learning Network for Teacher Educators. It has the “Goal of delivering a research-based view on best practices in
using technology in teacher education” (Reed, 2021). A teacher can benefit from this journal in that it Introduces contemporary trends in technology, provides creative uses of technology for teachers, and
focuses on both pre-service and in-service training. For students, it opens opportunities for new and innovative uses of technology. A wide range of student needs are addressed.

mentor one another in how they are experiencing success with technology. Last year’s conference had many interesting presentations for both beginner and advanced teachers in technology. “Come on
Down…to the ISTE Standards for Students Game Show 2021!” sounds like a great fit for newer teachers, like myself. It is a beginner level look into the ISTE Standards for Students through an interactive,
activity-based class. It looks like a fun and interactive way to become introduced to the ISTE Standards for a teacher new to the field.
