This document provides an overview of the human senses and systems involved in sensitivity and coordination. It discusses the main organs of sight, smell, hearing, touch, and taste, as well as the nervous system, skeleton, and musculature. The nervous system section explains that it has a central nervous system including the brain and peripheral nervous system with sensory and motor nerves. The skeleton section lists the main bone groups, and the musculature section names some key muscle types in the head, trunk, and limbs.
2. Stimulus and responses.
A stimulus is anything you see, touch, taste, smell or hearing.
They can be:
stimulus
Internal
external
There are two types of different receptors:
receptors
internal
external
A response is the body´s answer to a stimulus.
They can be muscular or glandular.
3. Sight
The eye is the organ of sight. Is made up of the
eyeball, and protected by the eyebrows,
eyelids and eyelashes.
4. Smell
The nose is the organ of smell. The
receptors of smell are in the pituitary
gland inside the nostrils
5. Hearing
The ear is the organ of hearing. It has three parts:
The three parts of the ear.
OUTER EAR: ear and ear canal
MIDDLE EAR: eardrum and the small bones
INNER EAR: cochlea and the auditory nerve
6. Touch
The skin is the organ of touch. It is made up of three layers.
Layers of skin
Epidermis
Dermis
Hypodermis
7. Taste
The organ of taste is the tongue.
The receptors of taste are in the taste buds.
8. The nervous system
The nervous system is made up of nerve centres and nerves.
The central nervous system.
The brain : the cerebrum, cerebellum and brain
stem.
The peripheral nervous system is made up of:
sensory nerves
motor nerves
Neurons are especial type of cells that are in the central and
peripheral nervous system.
NEURONS
9. The skeleton
The skeleton is made up of all the bones in the body:
the bones of the skleleton
Head bones: facial and skull bones
Trunk bones: spine and ribs cage
Limb bones: upper limb and lower limb bones
10. The musculature
The musculature is made up by all the muscles in the body:
muscles
Head muscles: masseter, buccinator and orbicular.
Trunk muscles: sternocleidomastoid, intercostal, pectoral and
abdominal and trapezius.
Limb muscles: deltoid, biceps, triceps, quadriceps, tendon,
tibial, calf muscles and gluteus.
