METHODOLOGY
PROJECT MILESTONES
We have successfully achieved the following milestones
 Evaluated working drawings.
 Prepared bar bending schedule and BOQ.
 Performed rate analysis.
 Evaluated productivity and duration of various activities.
 Studied the effectiveness of site safety and quality in a success of
construction project.
 Identify causes of delay and disputes on construction project.
 Planned and scheduled all construction activities on primavera p6e.
Selection Of Project (WHY?)
We have selected the project due to the following reasons.
 First of all the reason we selected the project in construction
management was due to our interest and better understanding
provided by teachers about the management in the field of civil
engineering.
 The topic which we have selected for final year project show our
interest about cost evaluation of construction project and how to
control project cost through better resource allocation & optimization
and also to get awareness about job site safety and quality issues
related to construction project.
Site Visit And Data Collection
Frequently visited site for
 Collection of data such as working drawings.
 Observing Different construction activities on site.
 Discussing problems with external.
 Getting awareness about sequence of work required to plan and
schedule the project.
 To observe and understand safety and quality parameters.
Preparation and Submission of
Synopsis
Synopsis was submitted to our internal in the month of February 2015
which included
 Project title
 Project details
 Project technical information
 3c’s of project
 Objectives and scope of project
 Time frame
Rate Analysis and Workout
Productivity
 All Rates and productivity (except productivity of machinery) are taken
from NES-PAK Contract section 12th floor PNIC Building opp. Shahra-
e-Faisal, with cooperation of GM of Contract section Engr. Nasir Jamal.
 Some Rates and productivity were provided by our Site supervisor of
AL Ghazi Office Building Associate Engr. MR Fahad
 Productivity of machinery was found from internet by pdf manuals of
manufacturers of respective machineries.
Preparation Of Bar bending schedule and BOQ
 We prepared BBS and BOQ by following working drawings

Study and observation of site safety
and quality
 The biggest concern which we observed at the site that for engineers
and supervisors personal protection equipment's (PPE ) were given and
other safety precautions were followed but for the laborers the
equipment's (PPE) was not properly provided due various delays
occurred because of accidents.
 Through sites visits we observed that proper quality control procedures
were implemented to get the required quality construction and in
quality assurance teams were assigned to check that all the design
specifications and codes were followed according to standards.
Planning and scheduling of al-ghazi
project on primavera P6
 Planning and scheduling on P6 was started at 4 December 2014 and
was successfully completed on 7 Jan 2015
 Budgeted total cost of project which we estimated by P6 is Rs 38907213
PROJECT S CURVE
Activity usage profile
What we Learnt?/Conclusion
 This construction management project gave us a better understanding about the site sense
and skills required to execute the task properly within limited cost & given time at the site.
 We have computed the bill of quantities and learnt about cost estimation of various
activities of the project. We worked out and understood the bar bending schedule of the project.
 We also performed the rate analysis to get familiar with cost evaluation of construction projects.
 We studied the effectiveness of jobsite safety program in a project success and observed that if safety
standards and precautions are strictly carried out on site then the chances of site accidents
can be avoided up to great extent as well time delays in the project as a result of accidents can also be
controlled.
 We also observed that quality assurance & control on site leads to reliable and economical
construction in many aspects.
 We evaluated productivity and duration of various activities and resources of our project.
 Planning and scheduling of all construction activities was performed on primavera p6e and learnt to
effectively utilize available resources for a various activities of project and control their cost using
primavera P6e
 After working on the management software Primavera P6e, We learnt the satisfactory level of software
towards handling and working and were able to understand the user friendliness of the software.

We worked out and understood the bar bending schedule of the project.  We also performed the rate analysis to get familiar with cost evaluation of construction projects.  We studied the effectiveness of jobsite safety program in a project success and observed that if safety standards and precautions are strictly carried out on site then the chances of site accidents can be avoided up to great extent as well time delays in the project as a result of accidents can also be controlled.  We also observed that quality assurance & control on site leads to reliable and economical construction in many aspects.  We evaluated productivity and duration of various activities and resources of our project.  Planning and scheduling of all construction activities was performed on primavera p6e and learnt to effectively utilize available resources for a various activities of project and control their cost using primavera P6e  After working on the management software Primavera P6e, We learnt the satisfactory level of software towards handling and working and were able to understand the user friendliness of the software.
