2. Hand-drawn Drafts – (Zoned)
These are my hand drawn drafts for Zoned. I used these to help me
visualize what my website and homepage would look like. There was a
few changes made to the home page, this was just for practical reasons
and as when designing it just looked slightly better.
6. About Zoned
When designing this application I thought about what was needed within the social media
platforms. I was thinking of a way that people could talk to their friends while listening to
music and that is how I came up with the idea for ‘Zoned’. The name came to me because
I was thinking about how when people listen to music, they are normally listening to it to
become focused, to get into the Zone. I also thought of Zoned as when you are friends
with someone, they are in the ‘Friend Zone’.
A key feature of my application is being able to share songs with your friends and you can
both listen to it at the exact same time, at the exact same point within the song. This
would be able to boost conversations within friendships as you would be able to relate
within songs. You can then message other users within the application, of whom you are
friends with, to talk about the songs you have shared with each other. If the user
subscribes for a small fee they can have no adds interrupting their songs and popping up
all the time.
The name of my font style for the name Zoned is called ‘NEON ABSOLUTE SANS 1’. I chose
this font style as it is a bit different and futuristic which would appeal to my target
audience as it will stand out to them.
For my colour scheme I will be using a galaxy type background as this will again stand out
to my target audience and will attract them to try my application. It also could be seen as
relaxing and looking aesthetically pleasing.
11. The DPA was first composed in 1984 and was updated in 1998
The Data Protection Act 1998 is an act of the Parliament within the United Kingdom defining ways in
which information about living people may be legally used and handled. The main purpose is to
protect individuals against any misuse or abuse from information about them.
The main rules of the DPA 1998 define that personal data should:
• Be accurate and current.
• Not be retained for longer than necessary.
• To be obtained only for lawful purposes.
• To be protected against unauthorized or unlawful processing and against accidental loss or
damage.
• To be processed fairly and lawfully.
As Zoned is similar to Spotify, this means that most of the privacy policy, if not all, that is featured
within their legal terms is the same as Zoned. The information that is collected from the user by
Zoned is content and any information that is shared by the user when signing up.
Any messages sent by the user are also collected just as a back up store so that if any unwanted
behavior was to happen, evidence could easily be shown to authorities.

13. Website Functionality
Terms and Conditions
It is vital that the terms and conditions for Zoned are clearly
stated as well as information that related to any other legal
and ethical issues e.g. copyright and loyalties. Other
information such as IP information and government laws will
be available to be viewed on the site. This is so the users
know what rights they hold whilst they are using the website.
Privacy Policy
The privacy policy for my website will also be clearly stated
on my website so that no confusion is caused with the users.
This policy will tell the users what my website will do with any
information that is provided by the user themselves when
setting up an account for Zoned. Zoned will also be able to
receive information from third party partners which will be
based on interactions that occur between the third party and
the user. This information will then be sent to Zoned so we
can show adverts accordingly. In addition, if any part of the
privacy policy changes, the user will automatically be sent an
email, the one they registered with, to indicate this.
Spotify is a similar website/application to what I have created
with Zoned. I have therefore took some parts of their data
protection policy from their privacy policy page. The layout is
very neat and easy for users to understand.
14. Budget
https://www.expertmarket.co.uk/web-design/how-much-does-website-cost
To produce a website it can cost between £200
and £10,000. This is dependent on the type of
website you would like to create. There are a
few different types of websites, in this table
they have been broken down into four
different categories; basic, small business,
ecommerce and bespoke.
Zoned would come under the ‘Small business’
type of site as it will be constantly updating,
because of new music, new ideas and
customer feedback. It is also in this category as
it will have social media integration. This gives
me a rough estimate of the making of my
website costing £500 - £1,000.
16. Conclusion
Within LO4, I have displayed my hand drawn drafts
for my chosen site, Zoned, as well as the graphic
versions, including the app design. Although I did
not pick Friending Songs, I have shown the graphic
layout and application design. I have also stated the
Legal and Ethical Issues as well as the Data
Protection Act 1998. I talked about my budget and
costing's for the website as well as the revenue that
I could get. The website functionality has also been
stated so that it is clear how the website works.
