1. In what ways does your media
product use, develop or challenge
forms and conventions of real
media products?

2. Media Products
Whilst creating our three products we did as much as
we could in order to make sure that they looked like
real media products. Before creating our products
everyone in the group did research in order to help us
gain a better understanding of the genre of film that we
were using. Once we had established what genre that
we were going to use it became much easier for us to
do research.
3. Teen Horror
As a group we decided the genre that we were going to
use was teen horror. Once we decided this we did some
research both as a group and on our own. We looked at
codes and conventions of other movies in this genre in
order to see what they had included in their movie. By
doing this we knew what sort of things that we needed
to include in our trailer. Then this helped us as it made
our product look more realistic.
4. Our trailer
When looking at other teaser trailers from our genre we got an
idea of how we needed to create ours. They usually try to show
the characters but they try to keep the monster or horror aspect
out of it to leave the audience wondering what it is. So whilst
creating ours we knew that we had to do something along the
line of this. So had a slow build up in our trailer then had the
pace of it increase as you could see things happening. We
showed flashed of all our main characters to show them to our
audience. Then at the end of the trailer we included a shot of
our monster which was evil Santa.
5. Magazine Cover
Before we created our magazine we
had a look at other horror movie
magazines. By doing this we
established that most of these movies
would appear on the magazine known
as horrorville. So we decided that we
were going to use this as our
magazine. This helped our movie look
professional as some of the best
horror movies have appeared on the
front page of this magazine. This also
immediately shows that audience the
genre of our film.
6. Poster
When creating our poster we did not really use a
main guideline. We had included all the things
that we needed to such as the billing block, the
title and the date of when the movie would have
been released. So decided to include a massive
photo of the main character. This was done so
that the audience would be able to see him. As
well as this we did not want to create a poster
that looked very busy.
