The process for creating the music magazine product involved three main steps: research and planning, photography, and use of Photoshop. Research focused on analyzing existing music magazine designs. Photography was experimental since the author had limited camera experience, but this allowed for creative images. Photoshop was used as the main editing software to modify photos, add text and colors, and create page layouts with minimal design elements.
2. WHAT IS THE PROCESS YOU WENT
THROUGH TO CREATE YOUR PRODUCT?
There are three main steps/components that steered me towards the final product:
• Research and
planning
• Photography
• Photoshop
3. RESEARCH AND PLANNING
The research mainly fixated on inspiration
from past and existing products, creating a
layout and expectation for the convention of a
music magazine. Using images from Google
gave me maximum accessibility to a range of
different music magazine covers, contents
pages and double-page spreads to analyse
and use as a stimulus.
4. PHOTOGRAPHY
The photography procedure was experimental, as my
experience and skills were limited with the camera.
However, being experimental was beneficial as it
brought forward a variety of creative images, even
if they were not put to use.
The camera used for my project was a Canon EOS
550D, which gave me more than enough creative
freedom to produce high quality images which is
vital for the presentation of my magazine.
I mainly used a manual focus setting, allowing me to
have control over what is in focus and what is not.
5. PHOTOSHOP
Photoshop was the main platform of editing
that I had used for my magazine. This was
because it was a more professional
software to use, with practically limitless
possibilities for the outcome. Although, as
my theme was minimalism (as mentioned in
my VoiceThread), I did not use that many
editorial techniques. I merely altered the
luminosity of the front cover photo, modified
the opacity of components, added text and
colour, and experimented with shapes with
a colour overlay as a base for text.
6. WEBSITES USED
This is the platform used
to upload the project
coursework.
Adding voice in a presentation
was helpful as a change of
format for presentation.
Prezi is a fun way to present
work as the dynamics are
flexible.
YouTube is a surprisingly fast
uploader for videos, and a
decent use of Web 2.0
This website is efficient and
is quick and easy to upload
powerpoints.
This website is certainly a fun
and detailed way of presenting
things, especially the
