2. Who are they?
Progressive metal band that was formed in Bethesda,
Maryland during the year of 2005
Known for their complex polyrhythmic patterns and
melodies that is often referred to as Math Metal
Regarded to as the pioneer’s of the djent movement in
progressive metal.
Have released two studio albums and are currently working
on a third one named Juggernaut that will be released during
2014.

4. Self-Production
• Periphery are working on an album titled
“Clear” that is to be self-released using a paywhat-you-want business model.
• This relates directly to the on-going problem
with record labels enforcing strict copyrights
laws and losing out on sales due to piracy.

• Facebook/Twitter pages with giveaways, concert updates,
where to buy merchandise and new releases.
• Facebook and twitter pages are linked so if you follow them
on one you have access to all information and updates.
• Periphery also have a MySpace page that contains samples
from their albums as well as videos, photos, and event dates.

• Periphery has various pages on music streaming websites like
last.fm, grooveshark, and spotify. They also have a page on
Itunes for downloading their music.
• Periphery also have a page on the website www.gotdjent.com where they have 3000 fans that like and follow the
page.
• Periphery also maintains a merchandise website where you
can buy the latest t-shirts and hoodies related to periphery.

Periphery are known as one of
the leaders and innovators in the
progressive metal scene and are
very successful because of this.
They have definitely found an
audience in the broad community
that is Metal.

• Periphery shares giveaways, tour dates, updates of
tours and other content on a regular basis
• Recently they did an AMA(ask me anything) on reddit
which was received very well by the progressive
metal community as we got to understand each band
member on a more personal basis

and are collaborating with him to design
upcoming artwork for CD covers and other
materials.
10. Engaging Fans
• As I mentioned earlier, periphery are quite engaged with their
fans as they reached out to fan made art and are working with
him on future projects. As well as the Reddit AMA.
• Periphery also releases tracks from upcoming albums on their
Facebook page.
• They ask fans what their favourites songs are from the
respective albums.

• Lead guitar player Misha Mansoor maintains a soundcloud
page where he releases rifts from their albums and other
miscellaneous projects for fans to listen to.
• Periphery bassist Adam Nolly also offers lessons through the
website bandhappy.
• Periphery also retweets song covers done by fans and posts
them on their facebook page for recognition.
12. Online/Physical Overlap
• Periphery definitely uses social media to be
interactive and connected with their fanbase.
• Many of their posts are where to find tunings,
pickups, and specific setups for their guitars
• Subtle advertisements of merchandise and upcoming
album releases like asking “does anyone even like
this album? Or does it suck?”

• Periphery updates their twitter feeds and
Facebook pages almost daily. Effectively
keeping their fans in the loop of every tour
date or album release in the near future.
• Periphery also takes it upon themselves to go
the extra mile when engaging with their fans
by answering hundreds of questions from
supporters around the world.

posts are funny and upbeat. A recent picture
of there tour depicts them in Japan with the
stereotypical colourful cut-outs over the
picture.
