TOPIC / MAIN IDEA Making a mosaic with flags of European countries

MATERIALS a trowel, a cat’s tongue, a glue comb, a knife to be
coated, a Japanese clamp
plywood plates, glazed tiles, ceramic, glue
OBJECTIVES
Preparing a model of flag with a plywood plate.
Learning about flags of European countries
( Portugal, United Kingdom, Germany, Poland, Spain,
Belgium, Turkey, Luxembourg, Italy ).
Noticing the French flag and the EU flag hung on
the front of the Town Hall of Bourbon.
Searching the colors used, the pictorial details.
Developing manual skills.
METHODS AND TECHNIQUES Rotation of small groups of 4 children.
Sessions of 35 minutes each for four months.
1. Drawing the details of each flag on the plates of

plywood
2. Breaking the tile into small pieces
3. Spreading the glue on the plywood
4. Laying the pieces by spacing (mosaic effect)
A long, meticulous and collective work begins !

Note : Joints and the laying of the mosaic on the wall
will be made by Gaël, our intervening of Visual
Arts.
ASSESSMENT The activity was a source of great fun for all
children, including those who have problems with
manual activities and don’t enjoy art classes.
Parents admired the mosaic.
There is no age to make his/her first work !
The project logo is being created...
The mosaic will be unveiled in the presence of our
project partners, early June.
